BlitzReels opens its AI video editor to Claude Code, ChatGPT and other AI agents

BlitzReels now lets AI agents such as Claude Code, ChatGPT and Cursor clip, caption, reframe and export videos through a hosted MCP server with 215 tools, a CLI and a REST API.

BlitzReels, a browser based tool that turns long videos into short clips for social media, announced in October 2026 that its full video editor can now be operated by AI (artificial intelligence) agents. Creators, marketers and developers can ask Claude Code, ChatGPT, OpenAI Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor and other compatible assistants to clip a long recording, reframe it for vertical screens, add captions and export the result, without opening a timeline editor. The integration is aimed at teams that repurpose podcasts, interviews, webinars and tutorials into short videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and LinkedIn.

How the agent integration works

The BlitzReels for Agents offering includes three connection methods tied to one user account:

  • Hosted MCP server. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to outside tools. The BlitzReels server exposes 215 tools and uses OAuth sign in, so an agent works inside the user’s own account. It can be added to ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor or any MCP compatible client.

  • CLI. A command line interface lets users sign in once, then read projects, edit and export from the terminal, with JSON output for scripts.

  • REST API. Documented endpoints and an OpenAPI schema allow developers to build custom agents and integrations.

BlitzReels also publishes open source agent skills, instruction files that teach an agent the BlitzReels workflows for clipping, editing, generation and carousels.

According to the company, every edit an agent makes lands in an editable project in the user’s workspace. Removing timeline items requires a preview and a confirmation, and users can open any edit in the web editor before it is exported. Agents use the same plan and credits as the web app and can list credit costs before generating anything.

What the editor does

BlitzReels scans a long video, suggests short clips and gives each clip a score out of 100 to help users decide which to post first. Each clip comes with a suggested title, description and hashtags. The editor includes captions in more than 50 styles, transcription and captioning in more than 35 languages with automatic language detection, smart reframing that keeps the speaker in frame, and exports up to 4K. Videos can be imported as MP4, MOV or WebM files, from a YouTube link or from a shared Google Drive link.

The product has expanded steadily over the past year, as recorded in the BlitzReels changelog. The company introduced its video API in February 2026 and its SDK (software development kit) and CLI in May 2026. Later updates added removal of text embedded in video, a unified editor, consistent characters for AI generated stories, and a Series beta for recurring videos in September 2026.

Plans and availability

BlitzReels offers a seven day free trial, which requires a card and includes one video of up to 15 minutes and three watermarked 720p exports. Paid plans, listed on the pricing page, start at $29 per month billed yearly ($39 billed monthly) for the Starter plan with 30 clips a month. The Growth plan costs $59 per month billed yearly and includes 150 clips a month and three seats, and the Agency plan costs $149 per month billed yearly with unlimited exports and ten seats.
